TRANSITIONS...

Getting married, moving to the city and having a difficult pregnancy all happened in the year 2000. It was a challenging transition from being a businesswoman living in the province to a totally jobless and bedridden wife! I saw a totally different person in me and slowly depression crept in.

SERENDIPITY...

The web has been my way to "travel" outside the confinements of our home. I chanced upon a Filipino wedding site called weddingsatwork.com and posted in their classified ads section what products/services I can offer having been in the graphic design and desktop publishing industry for 6 years. I never expected though that someone would get my services since I don't have an online portfolio yet.

From classified ads section, I was included in the online supplier's directory of W@W. Someone brave enough emailed me if I can make an orange butterfly-inspired invitation but her wedding is not until 2002, but it was fine with me. I sent her my original 2 monarch butterfly design and she immediately liked it. After I gave birth in 2001, I got invited to the first bridal fair of Hyatt Regency Manila. I joined just to have an experience of how its like to be in a bridal exhibit but it became a beginning of something beautiful in my life...

A PASSION, AN EXPRESSION...

More bridal fairs and invitations made and soon this has been my full-time career - a PASSION for me. I now know what I truly want and love to do, that is, making handmade invitations that that is reflective of my clients' personality that they want to share through their invites. This has been my creative outlet, my expression of who I am and who I want to be.

As for the first "brave" bride-to-be who ordered her orange butterfly invites from me, she's been a good friend ever since and godmother to my second child. :)
